Redcliffe artist Barry Kidd may love to travel, but his best work is produced closer to home because he feels connected with the soul of the subject. Born in Melbourne in 1940, Barry spent his early years in advertising, engaged in production, layout and copywriting. He moved to Queensland in 1968 and had several varied business experiences before embarking on a career as an artist. He gained an associate Diploma of Art from Kelvin Grove CAE, majoring in printmaking. Barry came to Queensland in 1968, attracted by the sunshine and light conditions for painting, he has felt an instant bond with the state’s distinctive style of housing.
